About writing a Praxis-Report for the Bachelor-Praxismodule (Anglistics Major)
To complete 50 percent of the Praxismodule, you can hand in a 2-3 page internship- or praxis-report about one of your past occupations. This can be an internship, employment, but also unpaid volunteering (Ehrenamt) for a charitable organization. The occupation cannot have been part of your school education. It should be situated after reaching higher education entrance qualification.
Please send the report either via E-Mail as an attachment to Dr. Georg Schiller (gschille@phil.hhu.de) or hand it in personally in Dr. Schiller’s office (23.21.01.70, Wednesday 09:30-11:00). If you send your report via E-Mail, please include it as a PDF- or Word-File. If you hand it in personally during office hours, please don’t forget to put your university E-Mail address on your report.
Dr. Schiller can currently usually work through praxis-reports in two to three weeks. He will then contact you via E-Mail to make an appointment, to which you should bring a certificate (Zeugnis) or a simple document by your employer, confirming the timeframe (at least 10 work days) and your occupation. This certificate will be copied; The original is immediately returned to you. You will also be handed a confirmation (BN), which you will later need for the Student’s Office (Studierendenbüro) of our institute, since they will accredit your Praxismodule as 50% done.
Formally, there are no specific requirements for the report. Contentwise, you should describe honestly and straightforward (preferably in everyday-language):
- how you came to this employment,
- which preexisting expectations you had,
- what you actually did,
- how you were treated,
- if it was easy/hard to integrate into the team/workflow,
- if the work was fun to do,
- if you learned something, and if yes, what was it,
- what you learned about yourself,
- in what way this field of work (or what aspects of it) will be attractive to you in the future.
